SPIRE ACADEMY

GENEVA,OH

SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio is an innovative school, sports training facility, and event space that forms a key economic cornerstone of its community. Their forward-thinking outlook towards energy lead them to pursue a large-scale solar energy system that reduces electricity costs as much as it builds a sustainable facility.

KEY NUMBERS

Aquatics Building

910 kW

1,100,000 kWh annual energy generation

Courts Building
Savings

369 kW

420,000 kWh annual energy generation

$4.5 million dollars energy savings over 25 years

The innovation of the facility itself has always been key to SPIRE's success: two pools designed in partnership with Swimming USA, advanced sports analysis equipment, an Olympic-level indoor track and field, a state of the art kitchen and cafeteria, and more. Cutting-edge energy savings was always a natural fit.

SPIRE's advanced facilities have high energy demands - Better Together Solar's 18 years of electrical and PV experience provided the perfect solution to the issues of rising utility costs and the associated environmental toll. Two large rooftop solar arrays on the Courts and Aquatics buildings have reduced electricity costs by more than half, exceeding initial estimations once real-world production began in the latter half of 2024.

This project was such a success that SPIRE's ownership and BT Solar have committed to a series of follow-up projects in solar and energy storage to continue driving Ohio's most forward-thinking sports and education institution.
